The 26,910 sq ft Gleneagles Arena will be created out of an equestrian area within the five-star Gleneagles Hotel’s 850-acre grounds. The area earmarked for development will be transformed into a versatile events hall that will double up as a four-court tennis complex.

The centre could be up and running as early as spring next year and will be available for conferences, exhibitions, concerts and “team-building sessions”.

Gleneagles’ director of events and leisure, Stuart Smith, said the project would also include 650 spectator seats and a combined reception and retail area.

He said: “After celebrating our 90th anniversary and hosting the Ryder Cup, this has been one of the most memorable years in Gleneagles’ history.

“We are delighted we’ll be able to keep the momentum going in 2015 with the launch of this fantastic new space.

Tennis is a booming sport and one we know many of our guests enjoy.”
