Royal Mile Zorb trick goes on air

IT was among the more bizarre sights on Royal Mile last year – a giant Zorb filled with underwear and a rather dizzy celebrity.

Now residents are finally set to find out what the event, which attracted huge crowds to a closed-off area of the street, was all about.

The trick will be features in the new series of the BBC1 hit The Magicians, which starts on Saturday night, with audiences finally getting to see the whole trick which saw Boyzone’s Keith Duffy bounced down a red-carpet track.

The show pairs up magicians with celebrity assistants for grand illusions, with other celebrity assistants for the series including former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips, boyband The Wanted and Baywatch legend David Hasselhoff.

Darren McMullen, the new host of the show and the man behind the impressive Zorb illusion, said: “Magic’s been having a bit of a renaissance here. My nieces and nephews are incredibly into magic.

“I remember playing with my magic set and watching Paul Daniels in exactly this time slot.

“It doesn’t get any better than this.”
