Rowling ends nine-year feud with father

A NINE-YEAR feud between Harry Potter author JK Rowling and her father has ended, it has been claimed.

It is believed that Peter Rowling fell out with his daughter after he auctioned off a collection of rare Harry Potter books to cover his £100,000 debts after his burger van business went bust.

But Mr Rowling has reportedly claimed he is now “on good terms” with the 47-year-old – despite claims that a “vile” character in her new novel The Casual Vacancy is based on him.

He was quoted as saying: “Joanne and I are fine. We talk now. Everything is good. There is no problem any more.”

Among the books which Mr Rowling put up for sale in 2003 was one which included the note: “Happy Father’s Day 2000 and lots of love from your first-born, J.K. Rowling”.

Four novels fetched £50,000 while three failed to meet their reserve price.

Ms Rowling, who last month put her Merchiston home up for sale for £2.25 million and has moved to another home in the Capital, launched The Casual Vacancy – her first adult-orientated novel – last week.

A spokesperson for the author said that she did not wish to comment on her relationship with her father.
