‘Rough’ nurse is struck off

A WEST Lothian nursing home has backed a decision by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to strike off one of its former employees.

Rose Benamaisia was employed as a nurse at the Peacock Nursing Home, in Livingston, when she hit an elderly resident on the arm and told a junior medic: “You have to be rough with them.”

She also failed to hand out appropriate medication to a patient and threatened to slap a dementia sufferer, saying they were getting on her nerves.

She was found guilty of seven charges at an NMC hearing.
