Rolls-Royce fit for a princess fetches £21,000

A RARE Rolls-Royce limousine that once belonged to both Princess Margaret and Burt Reynolds sold for more than £21,000 yesterday.

The 1975 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow long-wheelbase limousine was supplied to the personal order of the princess and later was also owned by American actor Reynolds.

It retains features requested by the princess, including leather-trimmed door cappings, nuella black hide interior, and cardinal red paintwork with gold coachlines.

Hollywood star Reynolds bought the car in 1984 and kept it at his ranch in Florida.

Tim Schofield, UK head and director of the Bonhams motor car department, who was at the auction at Rockingham Castle in Leicestershire, said: "There were three or four other bidders. We are all very happy with the sale.

"Burt Reynold had carpet fitted with his own monogram initials - BR - and some people thought it belonged to British Rail."
