Robbers break into Co-op shop

Thieves broke into a branch of the Co-operative store and made off with alcohol and cigarettes early this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the break-in, which happened on Main Street, Blackburn, at around 4.30am today.

A silver four-door saloon car was seen at the store and left along the B979 towards Hatton of Fintray.

Sergeant Colin Houston said: “Enquiries are at an early stage but we are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or unusual around the Main Street area of Blackburn in the early hours of today. We would also ask that anyone contact us if they saw a silver four-door saloon car leaving the area.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
