Robber runs off empty-handed

A WOULD-BE raider fled empty-handed after struggling with grocery staff.

Strathclyde Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery and assault around 7:30pm on Monday when a man entered a licensed shop in McNeil Street, Larkhall and threatened staff with a weapon.

A struggle ensued after the man demanded cash and he made off empty-handed in the direction of Milheugh Brae in the town.

Strathclyde Police said the suspect was wearing a black jacket with epaulettes on the shoulder and a hood, as well as a dark-coloured baseball cap that covered his face.
