Rifkind doll sells for £400

A LATEX puppet of former Edinburgh MP Sir Malcolm Rifkind has fetched nearly £400 in a charity auction.

The creation, used on satirical television show Spitting Image, was one of many sold at auction in London yesterday.

Likenesses of former prime ministers Margaret Thatcher, Edward Heath and John Major were also among the items, which raked in 7000 in total.

A puppet of Northern Irish politician Ian Paisley sold for just more than 1000, while the distinctive Norman Lamont doll made 576.
