Review into forced repairs

AN INQUIRY is to be launched into how the city council uses its powers to force repairs on properties.

The Evening News revealed earlier this week that almost 30 million of work is under way after the council issued statutory repairs notices.

And a motion from Labour councillor Ewan Aitken calling for a full review of the process has been accepted by councillors. The director of city development will now be asked to get the work under way.

Councillor Aitken said: "I am glad that they have understood that given the difficulties faced by many residents involved in statutory notice, a full review is required."
