Restaurant fined £1,500 over 'filthy' kitchen

A RESTAURANT has been fined £1,500 after it was found to have "filthy conditions".

Giorgio Crolla, the owner of Bar Napoli in Hanover Street, Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to charges related to breaches of the Food Hygiene (Scotland) Regulations.

The charges followed an inspection by Environmental Health Officers last August, during which they found a large build up of filth, stagnant water and food debris underneath and behind kitchen equipment.

This was said to be a sign of "very poor cleanliness" and had created a "breeding ground" for flies and beetles.

The premises were re-inspected in September and found to be much improved.
