Residents turn out for housing plan meetings

MORE than 600 have attended a series of public meetings on plans for a housing development on a former army barracks.

Developers have been trying to build housing on Dreghorn's polo fields for more than a decade – but the move has always faced considerable opposition from the local community.

Taylor Wimpey and Miller Homes held two days of public presentations on their latest proposals over last weekend.

Over a two-day period, 615 people attended the meetings, with 400 questionnaires being completed.

In an update on the consultation event, developers said: "Miller Homes and Taylor Wimpey recognise that any application would generate strong emotions from the nearest neighbours."
