Residents set to run out for Olympic relay

RESIDENTS in West Lothian are set to turn out in their droves to see the Olympic flame when it visits the area in the summer.

More than 500 pupils will be at an event for schools at Hopetoun House to see the flame on June 13.

The next stop will be Broxburn, where, at 5.20pm, the Olympic torch relay will continue along North Greendykes Road, East Main Street and Newhouses Road, carried by torch bearers wearing white and gold uniforms.

To mark the occasion, a number of events and activities for residents, visitors and children in Broxburn will be organised throughout the afternoon leading up to the visit of the torch.

Chief executive of West Lothian Council, Graham Hope, said the visit was West Lothian’s “moment to shine”.

He added: “It’s a historic visit and a chance for people in West Lothian to see the Olympic torch relay and join in the fun.”
