Residents evacuated after pipe bursts

RESIDENTS were evacuated from their homes after a water main burst in Edinburgh yesterday morning.

Police reported significant flooding in Allan Park Road, Slateford, which was expected to cause disruption to water supplies and other utilities as well as road and rail links across the west side of the city.

A number of residents were asked to leave their homes, while vulnerable premises including nursing homes and hospitals received deliveries of bottled water.
