Rescuers resume search for missing Orkney diver

THE search for a missing scallop diver in Eday Sound, Orkney resumed today.

The alarm was raised at around 3.50pm yesterday when the man, 33, did not surface from a dive.

An RAF rescue helicopter, coastguards and the RNLI lifeboat combed the area but found no trace of him.

The search was called off at about 7.30pm last night as darkness fell.

Today the coastguard helicopter continued to look out for the missing diver as it flew to deal with an injured fisherman in the area.

The dive boat which reported the man missing also planned to return to the spot where he disappeared to search again.
