Repair bill for pool's glass roof hits £150,000

UP TO £150,000 is to be spent fixing the roof of a swimming pool where a shard of glass fell and injured a swimmer.

The city council today revealed the potential cost of the project at Warrender Swim Centre, which is run by Edinburgh Leisure, as it invited firms to bid for the work.

The project costs are to be met by an anticipated underspend at Glenogle Baths, where a 5.3 million revamp is currently progressing on time and under budget.

Warrender Swim Centre has been closed since November, when the incident left a swimmer with an injured arm.

It will not open until the end of May at the earliest because the whole roof needs to be replaced.
