Rededication of restored church

A HISTORIC church has been rededicated on its 300th anniversary, after a three-year campaign to restore it to its former glory.

The Right Revered William Hewitt, moderator of the Church of Scotland's General Assembly, performed the ceremony at Yester Church in Gifford, near Haddington. Local people declared the restoration a massive success after the work was unveiled last week. They helped raise 700,000 to upgrade the rundown church.

Historic Scotland gave 250,100, while the General Trustees of the Church of Scotland provided a 185,000 loan.
