Record shop on move to Grassmarket

A WELL-known Edinburgh record shop has moved into a new home.

Avalanche Records - Scotland's largest independent record shop - has clinched a 10-year lease at 5 Grassmarket and will be moving from its long-term unit at the top of Cockburn Street, where it has been based for 12 years.

Owner Kevin Buckle said he hoped the move would help bring about a "creative hub" on the Grassmarket.

Will Biggart, surveyor at letting agent Ryden, who acted for the retail unit's landlord, said: "Our client is pleased that we have secured such an established business.

"With nearby retailers Red Dog Music and The Lot, the Grassmarket is an ideal location for Avalanche Records, and Kevin's vision of developing a music hub will certainly be beneficial to the area in the long run."
