Rare bat found by child on Arran

A RARE species of bat has been found on a Scottish island.

The parti-coloured bat was discovered injured on Arran by a nine-year-old girl. It is thought the bat was attacked by a cat.

Victoria Mowatt, a member of the local National Trust for Scotland Young Naturalists' Club, said: "I know bats like dark places, so I emptied out my friendship box for her."
