Rangers administration: SFA prompt bemusement and amusement online

RANGERS fans yesterday flocked to the internet to voice their anger over the sanctions.

Some called for organised protests to be held to demonstrate their displeasure, while others claimed that Rangers should walk away from the Scottish league to join the Premiership in England.

Posting on a message board, one fan going by the name of El Carpintero, wrote: “I am sick right now. Stunned and shocked yet not really surprised.”

“We would have folded by now. It’s only us fans that have kept us alive,” added ylfb on a fan site.

JB1 added: “I’m up for going to war right now! Cannot express in work how angry I feel!”

On Twitter, @Craig_plumber called for fans to ensure they do not spend money during away games. “Only one stance Rangers fans can take to voice our anger at Scottish football – boycott all spending at other clubs immediately…” he posted.

“A strongly worded statement of intent is needed, intent to starve every b*****d club in Scotland of the oxygen (our cash) they need to survive. Not one away ticket should be bought,” added Spectre.

Some fans backed calls for Rangers to join the English league. Broxi said: “Play in rank leagues for a few years to get back to exactly where we are just now? Conference is the way to go, get up to the Premier League.”

But @scarey99 questioned the need for the SFA to protect the club.

They asked: “Why do the administrators care what the SFA does to Rangers? They are there to pay off creditors not to run a football club.”

Others seemed less upset. On Twitter, @agreenwoodesq said: “Craig Whyte banned for life as club fined. It’d take a heart of stone not to smirk.”

Comedian Greg Hemphill tweeted: “I’m glad that Craig Whyte has been banned from Scottish football for life but I hope Rangers do the right thing and give him his pound back.”

“I must say well done to the #SFA they have managed to unite Rangers fans, something people have struggled with for quite a while,” tweeted @duncan_fraser.
