Raith Rovers boss hit by jewel thieves

FOOTBALL club chairman Turnbull Hutton has told how he returned from holiday to discover thousands of pounds’ worth of jewellery had been stolen from his Capital home.

The Raith Rovers chief – who was at the centre of a war of words over the handling of the Rangers crisis during pre-season – said every piece of jewellery in his home had been taken.

Mr Hutton, 66, said: “The window cleaner had discovered that the back window had been forced open. He told the neighbours and they then called the police.

“We went inside and every piece of jewellery in the entire house was gone. The only other thing they took was a pillow case, presumably to carry the jewellery in.”

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating following a break-in and theft from a
property in Clerwood Park.

“A large quantity of jewellery was taking during the incident, which happened sometime between July 29 and 31.”
