Race is on to bring Kate Middleton to book

A SMALL Scottish publishing house is expected to win the race to be the first to bring out a biography of Kate Middleton following her engagement to Prince William.

Edinburgh-based Mainstream hopes to reissue The Making Of A Princess in paperback form this week after author Claudia Joseph hurriedly added a new chapter following last Tuesday's announcement from Buckingham Palace.

But the giant HarperCollins and Anova are also involved in the scramble to bring out the first book. .

HarperCollins' version, by the Sun's royal correspondent, is due out on Wednesday while Anova's A Royal Love Story is expected by the end of the week.

A Mainstream spokesman said: "Claudia Joseph has been working on a new chapter, bringing the book right up to date.

"We are rushing it out as quickly as possible, so that it makes it into the shops at the very beginning of this week."

The prince and his fiancee Kate Middleton, both 28, have not yet confirmed where they will be married or named a date for the big day, which could be marked by an extra bank holiday next year.

It is known the couple have a venue and date in mind, but they are fitting their planning around William's job as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot and are said not to be rushing their decisions.

Yesterday Prince William took a break from wedding plans to watch a football match.

The prince, who is president of the Football Association, was spotted in the crowd at Bloomfield Road as Blackpool took on Wolverhampton.
