Pupils take note to help world’s poor

PUPILS at the Edinburgh Steiner School have launched a programme of fundraising efforts to help save lives in some of the poorest parts of the world.

Class 9 pupils chose to support WaterAid and have committed to raising money for the cause until they complete their education in 2015.

To launch their efforts, the pupils – aged 14 and 15 – will hold an evening of musical entertainment tonight.

All 16 pupils in the class will either perform or help behind the scenes with support from older pupils and parents.

Class 9 guardian teacher Cath Irvine said: “The pupils came up with this idea entirely by themselves. They chose the charity, enlisted the support of a parent to act as musical director and have attended rehearsals to prepare for their first fundraising night.

“The evening will include 15 performances, catering to every taste. The pupils have chosen all the music themselves.”

The musical event will take place in the school hall at 7.15pm.
