Pupils show great energy to win prize

A TEAM of Lothian school pupils have won a regional energy award – and will now aim to take the national prize.

Youngsters from Dunbar Grammar School came out on top at the Go4SET Celebration and Assessment Day at Heriot-Watt University.

Judges selected the team as the winner of the Best Overall Project Award for their outstanding work on the use of biomass as a source of renewable energy.

They took home a trophy and a cheque for £250 and will now go forward to the national finals at the Scottish Parliament.

Paul McLennan, leader of East Lothian Council, said “As a former pupil I am absolutely delighted the school have won such a prestigious award.”

Go4SET is a UK-wide educational programme allowing secondary school pupils to work with organisations to address issues of sustainability and engineering and science awareness.
