Pupils rejoice as new playground opens

A CHILDREN’S playground worth £30,000 has been opened after a city school won a national competition.

After fending off entries from more than 200 schools across the UK, Murrayburn Primary came out on top in a contest run on Facebook.

Harsh weather conditions had destroyed Murrayburn’s former playground over the winter.

Carol Swan, chairperson from Murrayburn Primary School’s Parent Council said: “Everyone worked so hard to gain as many votes as we could to make sure Murrayburn was the winning school.”

Headteacher Michael Urquhart added: “We are delighted with the results. The pupils will really enjoy the new playground and we can make much better use of the outdoor spaces for play and learning.”
