Pupils quick out of blocks for Olympics

PUPILS at a West Lothian primary school have staged their very own torch relay and Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Kirkhill Primary pupils are excited about the Olympic torch relay visiting Broxburn on June 13. They are focusing on Olympic themes this term and, in preparation, they recently staged their own torch relay around the school and a grand Olympic opening ceremony, which every class attended.

Acting headteacher Jane Boyle said: “We are all very excited about the visit of the real Olympic torch. Staging our own relay and Olympic ceremony is a great way to explain the significance of the Games to our pupils.

“It provides an opportunity to talk about different countries, cultures and sport. It was great fun.

“We will be covering all aspects of the Olympic Games during the rest of the term.”
