Punter wins almost £60k on Scottish football from £1.40 bet

One lucky punter couldn't believe his luck when he scooped almost £60,000 from a tiny bet on just three Scottish football matches.

Steve Sales, 54, from London 54, bet just £1.40 on Dundee, Inverness and Ross County to all rout their opponents 7-0 in their Betfred Cup matches on Saturday.

Amazingly all three results came in and with odds of 276,000-1, Mr Sales scooped £57,990 in winnings.

The unemployed dad of three told the Daily Record how his win will let him enjoy life for a while.

He said: “It will be nice to have the electricity on all the time now and the fridge full of food.

“I’m going to take my mum on a cruise as she has had a hard time recently looking after my dad, who is poorly.”

Betfred owner Fred Done said: “We have never come across such an incredible bet.”
