Publisher gets cash boost for dyslexic work

AN EDINBURGH-based publishing company that specialises in books for dyslexic children has been given access to a £350,000 cash boost from Clydesdale Bank.

Barrington Stoke is one of the first companies to benefit from the Scottish bank's latest fund which was introduced last summer to help small and medium-sized businesses.

The fund gives companies early access to money they have invoiced for, helping them avoid cash-flow problems while waiting for payments.

Barrington Stoke has won awards for its work publishing books for children who have dyslexia or trouble reading.

Books published by the company, which celebrated its ten-year anniversary last year, use a special font and page colour to make reading easier.

Sonia Raphael, managing director of Barrington Stoke, said: "Access to the fund will make a real difference."
