Pub drinkers smoked out

A CITY centre pub had to be evacuated yesterday after smoke suddenly filled the building.

The unexplained appearance of smoke occurred just before 3pm at the World’s End bar on the Royal Mile.

Staff and customers from there and the adjacent Baguette Express had to be ushered out by firefighters.

It is not known where the smoke came from, though witnesses at the scene said it did not appear to be from the kitchen.

Three fire engines attended and traffic was disrupted.
