£4k award for wrongful sacking

A WOMAN who was sacked because her bosses thought she was starting a business from her workplace has been awarded £4,241.

Vanya McKenzie, 29, was dismissed from estate agency the Corum Partnership after ordering hair extensions and accessories. After having goods delivered to her work and her home address, some invoices arrived at the business’s office.

She was let go on the basis she had been “operating a business” from the Paisley office and opening accounts with service providers in the firm’s name.

Ms McKenzie, from Paisley, took the company to an employment tribunal in Glasgow, citing unfair dismissal. Employment judge Muriel Robison ruled she had been unfairly dismissed.
