£20k raised for Syrians

AN emergency appeal for Syrians affected by the conflict in their country has raised more than £20,000 in the Capital.

The DEC Syria Crisis appeal is providing aid such as food, clean water, emergency shelter and medical care in Syria.

The UK public have so far donated £5 million – including £21,800 in Edinburgh.

Marie Hayes, chair of the DEC in Scotland, said: “Thank you to people in Edinburgh who have been remarkably generous.”
