£1m graves extension is now open

Work on a £1 million extension at a Lothians cemetery has been finished.

Fauldhouse Cemetery now has capacity for more than 1500 lairs, new car parking, seating and a waiting room with toilets.

West Lothian environment executive councillor Tom Conn said: “The site is ideally situated as it has an open view of the surrounding countryside, giving visitors the opportunity to visit their loved ones in a quiet, peaceful environment.

“This site should serve the need of the local communities represented here today for at least the next 50 years.”

Reverend Richard Houston, moderator of the West Lothian Presbytery, and Edinburgh Annandale Mosque representative Bashir Malik, attended last week’s official dedication
service.
