There was speculation the yacht is owned the American businessman Richard DeVos or a Russian billionaire. Abeking and Rasmussen, the German boat-buikders behind the Amaryllis, have not revealed who the boat was sold to following its launch in September.

The owner of the Orlando Magic basketball team, Decos is reportedly worth more than £3 billion.

In 2011, Forbes magazine listed him as the 79th wealthiest person in the United States,

The luxury yacht has reportedly been attracting a lot of attention from passers-by in Leith.

But it prompted Scotland’s homeless footballers, who had a kickabout in front of the Amaryllis before Christimas dinner at South Leith Baptist Church, to call on the rich to do more to help the less fortunate.

Player Liam Forbes, 23, said: “It’s amazing. The people who own this yacht can go where they want and sleep where they like. Homeless people often have no idea where they’re going to sleep from one night to the next. Billionaires should do more to help people less well-off.”
