£100k 'chipped' in for charity by food chain

A CHAIN of fish and chip shops has raised nearly £100,000 for charity.

Ashvale, which has a dozen restaurants and takeaways in Aberdeenshire and Dundee, has been collecting money over the past year at race nights, quizzes and bingo competitions.

The funds will be split between a range of charities, including Children 1st, Cancer Research, the Dog Rescue Centre Aberdeen, youth football clubs and churches.

The chain's efforts have led to it being shortlisted for a Contribution to the Local Community prize at the Fish and Chip Awards, to be held in London in January.
