Provost gets chieftain role for Games

WEST Lothian provost Tom Kerr has been revealed as the Chieftain of the re-named West Lothian Highland Games.

West Lothian's civic leader will be the guest of honour at the prestigious event, which will take place in Bathgate's Meadow Park on 29 May.

Councillor Kerr said: "I am highly delighted to be asked to be Chieftain of the first West Lothian Highland games. It's a great honour. The games are one of the high points on the summer events calendar in West Lothian."

Highland Games association president Matt Purdie said: "I know the Provost and West Lothian Council are big supporters of West Lothian Highland Games and have helped make it one of the best events of its kind in the country."
