Proclaimers on song for young bands

THE Proclaimers joined Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill at an Edinburgh recording studio to launch a new scheme for young bands to benefit from criminal’s cash.

CP Productions, based in West Harbour Road, Granton, received £12,000 under the Cashback for Creativity programme to help develop the
careers of musicians.

The Proclaimers dropped by yesterday to celebrate the scheme and meet Jack Hincks and his Band, a group who will benefit from the project.

Eighteen studios from across Scotland have received investment to allow 12 to 25-year-old musicians to record their first demo tracks and give them access to professional standard recording and rehearsal facilities.

The Cashback for Creativity scheme uses money seized from criminals to invest in dance, film and music programmes.

The Proclaimers’ Charlie and Craig Reid said: “We are delighted to support the Scottish Government’s imaginative policy on community-based funding for worthwhile projects.”

Mr MacAskill said: “Jack Hincks and his Band are some of the scores of young musicians who will benefit – and some might follow the likes of The Proclaimers.”
