A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the “significant” fire had been spotted patrolling Police units in the area around 2.10am. She said that the Scottish Ambulance Service specialist support unit and two Police units had also been in attendance at the scene as firefighters tackled the outbreak. There are no reports of any injuries.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two appliances and a height vehicle from the Central Fire Station, two appliances from North Anderson Drive, one appliance from Dyce, one from Kintore, a water carrier from Stonehaven and a welfare pod from Inverurie attended the incident.

“Firefighters in breathing apparatus used two main jets to deal with the fire throughout the night and at present two appliances remain at the scene. SFRS is now carrying out dampening down operations and checking for any remaining hot spots.”

He added: “A fire investigation will be carried out in due course when the building is deemed safe to enter.”
