Probe after man trapped under roller

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing into an incident which led to a rescue team freeing a 25-year-old man from underneath an eight-tonne road-roller, following an alleged theft.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue were called to the incident at Johnnie Cope Road, near Tranent, East Lothian, by the ambulance service at around 3.45pm on Sunday. They stabilised the vehicle, allowing paramedics to reach the casualty, whose leg was trapped

Two men, aged 26 and 47, have since appeared in court in connection with the alleged theft and another man, aged 25, reported for warrant.

The £19,000 road-roller is believed to have been removed from the side of the road in Cockenzie around two miles away.
