The body was discovered at the Maidencraig Nature Reserve in the Hazlehead area of the city, off the B9119 Skene Road near the Aberdeen Crematorium.
Police officers cordoned of the area following the discovery of the body this morning.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Investigations are at a very early stage. We are currently in attendance at the Maidencraig Nature Reserve after receiving reports of a body being discovered. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said the body of a female had been discovered in the Maidencraig Nature Reserve at Hazlehead around 11am .
She said: “The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances.”
Detective Inspector Stewart Mackie said: “We have various resources deployed to establish the circumstances of what has happened and we are treating the death as unexplained at this time.”
Local Councillor Martin Greig said: “This is an extremely shocking incident. The local community will be greatly alarmed by this terrible news. Hopefully the police will be able to explain what has happened without delay. My sympathies go to the family and friends of the deceased.”
