Prisoner hid mobile SIM

A LONG-TERM prisoner has admitted hiding a mobile phone SIM card in his cell.

Ian Burns, 31, concealed the device – banned in jails – in his pillowcase, but prison officers found it when they conducted a routine search at Addiwell, West Lothian, on May 7.

At Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday, 14 weeks were added to Burns’ 12-year sentence.

Prosecutor Michael Deacon said Burns admitted when caught that the SIM was his.
