Around 400 soldiers deployed to Helmand in April, where they were responsible for tasks such as handing over forward operating bases in Lashkar Gah to the Afghan National Army and supervising operations by Afghan National Security Forces.

Three soldiers from the battalion were killed and six were injured on April 30. They were on patrol between bases in Lashkar Gah when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.
