Prestwick Airport sale sparks job fears

GLASGOW Prestwick Airport has been put up for sale by its New Zealand-based owners.

Investment giant Infratil said it had put Scotland’s fourth-biggest airport on the market as a result of a shake-up of its investment plans.

Last year, it was revealed that passengers at Prestwick had slumped by nearly a third to just 1.4 million in the space of two years.

John Scott, the Tory MSP for Ayr, said he was concerned the sale would put the jobs of employees at risk.
