Praise for volunteers

A MAN organising shelter for rough sleepers over the festive period has thanked the churches and volunteers who make the system possible.

Norrie Webb, Edinburgh winter care shelter manager for the Bethany Christian Trust, said hundreds of people had given up their time over the past month, and will continue to do so until the service stops in April.

Without them, he added, the Edinburgh-based charity would not have been able to give food and shelter to the 30 people a night it brings in off the streets of the Capital.
