Practice pays off for High Mill pupils

It was a whole school effort from all classes when High Mill Primary School in Carluke held a Scottish Showcase on'¨Friday. The pupils had been practising for weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 'During this week you could see some of them practising their poems and songs out in the corridors and in the library area and at lunchtime some days,' said one of their teachers. The showcase started with . '˜Caledonia' which always has everyone feeling quite emotional and also proud to be Scottish.

Each class performed their song and some children from each class recited their Scottish poems after the class song was performed. There was also some excellent Highland dancing. There was a very good turnout from families and friends who enjoyed the entertainment in an excellent showcase and Mrs Girdwood, head teacher, was ‘‘extremely proud of her pupils.’’
