Potato hurler admonished

A TEENAGER who hurled a potato at a man's groin has been admonished by a sheriff after a report from a children's hearing.

Paul McQueen, 17, of Clovenstone Gardens, had previously pleaded guilty to culpably and recklessly throwing potatoes from the balcony in Clovenstone Park on August 8 last year and to injuring James O'Hare.

Mr O'Hare required treatment from paramedics after he was struck with the vegetable.

McQueen told police he had been on the balcony "for a fag" when someone came out with potatoes and asked if he wanted to throw them.
