Posthumous exhibition is in the frame

THE first posthumous exhibition of work by a well-known artist is to take place in the Capital this month.

The Royal Botanic Garden will display work by Irish artist William McKeown, who died in October at his home in Edinburgh.

Born in County Tyrone in 1962 and trained at Glasgow School of Art, McKeown was highly regarded for a body of work that explored the relationship between art and nature.

He was particularly famous for his watercolour drawings of wild flowers and paintings of the light of day.

During his career, McKeown exhibited throughout Ireland, the UK and overseas, with an appearance at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005.

The exhibition will take place at Inverleith House and runs from Saturday until July 8.
