Portrait artist to donate to Ballesteros foundation

A SCOTTISH portrait painter whose subjects have included Margaret Thatcher, David Cameron, Nelson Mandela and Sarah Ferguson has lent her support to Spanish golfer Severiano Ballesteros in his fight against cancer.

Anne Mackintosh painted Ballesteros in 1997 after visiting him in Spain and making a short film on which her portrait was based. The painter has now offered to donate money from the sale of portrait prints to the Seve Ballesteros Foundation which raises money for cancer research.

She said: "When I heard about his brain tumour and his foundation I just wanted to do something to help."

A print of the portrait signed by Ballesteros was auctioned at a charity dinner in London last night.
