PORTOBELLO Park Action Group (PPAG) has branded survey results on views about back-up site options for a new high school “meaningless”.

The protest group – which is opposed to the council’s preferred option to build a new Portobello High School on Portobello Park – underlined that the soundings taken by parent councils in the catchment area to help gauge views about the “Plan B” fallback site options did not take into account the views of the wider community.

Alison Connelly, spokeswoman for PPAG, added: “The council have taken steps to gather views from parents, but they have not taken any action to establish the views of the wider community. We think the survey results are completely meaningless because the questions were skewed.”

An analysis of all the surveys showed that 96 per cent of people questioned said Portobello Park remained the best site for the new high school.
