Portobello fires: Edinburgh teen, 17, arrested
A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with several stairwell fires in the Portobello area of Edinburgh.
The arrest follows a spate of six blazes set over the course of 24 hours on Sunday and Monday. Four fires in Bath Street, and ones in King’s Place and Ramsay Place that took place over the two days are thought to be linked. Police say all fires were started deliberately.
Residents were evacuated from each incident, with some treated for smoke inhalation. No-one was seriously hurt.
The teenager is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.
