Popular light show to return over River Tay in Perth

A council will spend £45,000 to bring a popular light show back to Perth next year.

Perth’s Norie-Miller lights show across the River Tay was enjoyed by 51,000 people in February and now council bosses have secured a deal for the show to return in 2018.

The light show will run every night from January 26 to February 14 along with themed attradctions in celebration of Valentine’s Day, burns Night and Chinese New Year.

A spokeswoman for Perth and Kinross Council said: “Events such as this, which are designed for the evening/night time, are a fantastic way to bring people into Perth at times when they may not necessarily venture into the city.

“We have high hopes of improving on what was an extremely positive and well received event.”

Council chiefs have allocated £14 million to encourage people to visit Perth city centre, including £5 million for the City of Light project, which will light up landmarks and buildings with animated projections and spotlights.
