Poorest set to pay loan sharks £82m

ABOUT 100,000 of the UK's poorest families will be crippled with £82 million of debt after borrowing from loan sharks to fund the cost of Christmas, research claimed today.

It is estimated people on low incomes borrowed 29m from illegal lenders to fund the festive season, but interest rates of up to 1,500 per cent makes repayments soar.
